Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (English: A Little Love, A Little Magic) is a 1988 Bollywood film directed by Shakti Kapoor. It stars Rekha, Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film is the only directorial venture of producer Vikas Bahl's father. Aatma (Salman Khan), with his parents away on a holiday tour, tries to get himself invited to their house by mail, but fails in his attempt after being left unaddressed for several days. Dejected, he starts roaming around his neighbourhood. His antics land him in trouble with the local police, who wrongly believe that he is involved in stealing money. Aatma manages to find out that his parents are back and goes to meet them at their house. He is surprised to see them with a new daughter (Karisma Kapoor). He is even more shocked when they tell him about her, after being warned by Aatma's cousin Mrankan (Amrish Puri) of the trouble she could bring upon them. Instead of leaving her on the doorstep, Aatma's father Arun Thakur decides to adopt her as his daughter-in-law and gives her a new name - Mahi. He also gives her a job as a typist in the finance office where Aatma is employed. Mahi's obviously posh ways, which are quite different from Aatma's own, cause problems for him, especially at work. He gets married to Mahi to save face and his family, but sees other opportunities appear with the women in his life. Aatma sees other men making advances on Mahi and ultimately finds himself very jealous of her closeness to Manus (Reema Lagoo), the nephew of Bankim Ahluwalia (Dharmendra). Manus becomes very friendly with Mahi. Meanwhile, Aatma becomes more obsessed with finding out who she really is. He comes to know that she is the daughter of the chief accountant (Dharmendra) in the corporation. He confronts her when she goes alone to meet Manus, but when he reveals her identity, she denies it. This leads him to think that she is inside a mistake and that his wife Mahi is not only an orphan who had worked for his father but also that she has money of her own. Aatma confronts Mahi at their favourite spot, the beach, and both of them get into a heated argument. The two quarrel so much that Aatma finally swears never to talk again to Mahi till Manus leaves for Switzerland following his father's death. At the same time, Manus and Mahi fall in love. Bankim's brother (Sushma Seth), her uncle, who has also been very successful in this business and is rich, has a heart attack and dies. This leads Mahi to think about marriage with Manus, as she doesn't want him to be like his father. She gives her uncle's widow (Farida Jalal) all of the money she has, except for what she needs for her marriage with Manus. Aatma and Mahi continue their silence for weeks and Aatma eventually starts liking someone else - his friend Munni (Rekha). Their silent treatment continues through this time as well. cfa1e77820
